What a difference a day makes

Posted by elizabethgomez on December 26, 2008

Well Another Christmas has come and gone and it was one of the best ever. We had a full house this year with family and friends stopping by. In my opinion Christmas eve. is far better than Christmas day. The feelings that fill a home when you surround yourself with people you love is like that of no other. we had plenty to eat, and plenty to drink, we ordered our cut outs this year and they were a hit. We have tons of leftovers and I can not wait to pick what I want for dinner later.

After the last drink was drunk and the last cookie eaten and everyone went home Jenn and I tuned into watching a Christmas Story . It was a perfect night.

Christmas day we got up, and the usual happened in our home as in many homes. We opened gifts, had a big tasty breakfast, and listend to christmas music. we enjoyed eachother and just took a step back and slowed things down a bit to realize just how lucky, and happy we all are. Later on we went to Connie’s house for yet another feast with family.

Now today Jenn is working at Ed’s but off from her other job, and I have spent the last three hours cleaning. The house is sparkling and smells good. A yankee candle (a gift ) is burning in the diningroom and the entire house smells like a Christmas cookie. What a difference a day makes. All is well.

Peace to all who enter here.

Sick and tired and just plain tired

Posted by elizabethgomez on December 21, 2008

So I am tired and my typing may be crap so please just deal with it. Jenn and I have spent the last few days shoveling and having our lawn ripped apart by a friend who has a plow. It has been a mess here in Brockport, NY.

On Friday the day Joel was supposed to travel, we got about a foot of snow. It snowed all freaken day, and I just wanted to close my eyes and make all go away. His flight was canceled but I still took him and the drive back home was horrible, and nerve wracking. I don’t do well in bad weather. even if I am in my house. Our friend Norm did help us and plowed the end of the driveway. ( The heaviest snow and slush accumulates there. That left the rest of the driveway, our cars, the back deck, the front porch and stairs, and a path for the dogs. It didn’t stop there today we got another seven inches and there is nowhere to put it. Now the wind has picked up and it is freazing and I have to go to work tomorrow and i have alot to do and it is going to suck !!!!!!!!!! But then ……… I am off until January 5th. So it can snow then. I plan on going to the store and stocking up on everything I may need or want after I get out of work and if it snows I will be a bear and hybernate, and be happy. Very happy . On Christmas eve Jenn and I are having everyone over, full house , and we are very excited. so other then the snow and the wind and being very tired, that was our weekend.

Then there was two

Posted by elizabethgomez on December 16, 2008

So tomorrow I am off, then I work on Thursday, then I have a usual three day weekend, then I work on Monday, and then I am FREAKEN OFF FROM WORK UNTIL………… January 5th !!!

There are only 16 hours or just two work days standing in my way of total bliss. Sleeping in, baking, family, and that wonderful spirit and total inner peace that only this time of year can bring. Jenn is taking time off from work too. All my family is healthy and happy and I could not feel anymore blessed, or happy. Jenn and I are in a good place.

Jenn and I are going to have a fuller house this year then last year, her parents will be joining us on Christmas eve along with all of my family. We can’t wait. To us Christmas eve, is the best part of Christmas. I even think all the shopping and decorating this year really put us in the spirit of the season, that is a rare thing for us. We usually feel rushed and dread the shopping, and the wrapping and having to “deal” with the families. This year it is very different, we are calmer about everything. There is only so much you can control, and I think me especially has realized that, and so it is easier all the way around. Kind of a full circle kind of thing.

We are also looking forward to all the goodies, this year we have so much on the menu, and we are crossing our fingers and trying new flavors. More about that later.

We ended up going to the Goerge Eastman house on Saturday, the Dryden Theater, and to some shops and dinner on Park Ave, we also met up with some friends for dinner that live around that area. On Sunday we shut everything off, TV, and phones and just spent time together. The only thing that we could hear in the backround was music playing on our new surround sound system. It was a good day.

Peace and love to all who enter here…
