Happy New Year, a toast to now, and the future. 2008 wrap up

As another year comes to an end I have much to reflect on and much to look forward to.

Jenn and I will be together for sixyears this May and while it was not an easy start for either of us, right now I feel our relationship is where it needs to be, and we are happy.

We also are in our second year of having Lucy in our life. The love that little beagle mix has given me will never be repaid with any treat or belly rub. She is a wonderful member of our family and all of us love her very much. I am a better person because of this little dog.

We did a couple f things to the house, and it looks great. Over the last year our house really has become a home and we couldn’t be more happy and more proud as to what we have been able to do.

Jenn and I were also able to get away this past year. Once as a family and once just the two of us. Our trip to Maine was truly a dream come true. Both of us have wanted to go for a long time and this year we were able to go. We also rented a cabin in Canandagua. It was relaxing, and also felt nice to disconnect from our lives for a bit and just focus on “us” . It was fun and we hope to go back this year.

We are only eatting meat twice a week and the rest of the week has allowed me to explore my culinary skills. Lentil soups, black bean burgers, tofu stir fry, and veggie chili have become some of our favorites. We will continue to eat this way, and eat as much organic as possible. Over the coures of the year Jen and I went down in weight . We are not sure how much because the number on the scale is just that a number.

So in reflecting on this last year I have to say Jenn and I feel blessed to have the families we have and great friends in our lives too. When you reach a point in your life where you are truly happy, then you don’t ( I think) need to write resolutions for the new year. Whatever the year brings will be okay, good or bad.

With all the struggles and hardships that people are facing in the world right now Jenn and I are very fortunate to have our jobs, our beautiful home, our health, and our happiness that we share with family and friends.

May the year 2009 bring all of you the very best.

Peace and love to all who enter here. And Happy New year

Just Five

I have five more work days and then I am off until September 2nd. We have a three day getaway for Jenn and I in Canandagua lake. I got a really good deal on a cabin right on the lake. we are also planning on a couple of day trips. We really want to go to the NYS fair, Niagara falls, and of cours we are going to try and get some things done around the house. we really would like to get Matty’s bedroom painted. I really need a break away from work to clear my mind. I also want to spend time with Jenn. It is always nice to reconnect. I think this vacation will have many many positive benefits.

This past weekend we had a date night and we went to a really nice  place that serves great food it is a old railroad depot in Leroy. They serve you fresh baked goods with your meal, and everything tasted really good ! From there we went to the casino and  Jenn won $200, then we came home. Saturday we went hiking after breakfast at North Hampton, then we walked around the arts festival in Brockport. Sunday we went to Benjamins graduation party. It was a  nice weekend.

We are very excited too with our garden. I planted a small fairy tale pumpkin plnat next to the porch on the side of the house and we have five pumkins growing with lots more on the way. we also have had lots of cucumbers, tomatoes, squash, lemons, limes, cilantro, mint, blueberries, peaches, and in about a week we will have pinto beans, orange and white tomatoes. Harvesting is always alot of fun to see something grow, well it is very gratifying.

Perfect sleeping weather

So Last Sunday we took my parents to a really wonderful brunch buffet at the village inn, then from there it was off to berry pick at Browns Berry Patch. I enjoy going there, but my parents were not up for the laong walk so my sister and I ended up picking 8 quarts of berries. Did I mention it was 86 degrees and sunny.

This week went by fast I just got out of work and am looking forward to the weekend. Jenn and i plan on going to the harbor festival, spend time with some friends and relax. This past week I had two Dr.s appointments. So far I have no results, both places said they would send a full report to my PCP. Jenn went with me and we sat for just under two hours for one apointment becuase ” they were a bit behind” Okay ! A bit ! you think ??? Sonny also went to see the vet. It saddens me but he is going to have to be put to sleep in the next couple of weeks. It is all in Jenn’s hands. After all he was her dog before he was mine.I thyink that she really has streched it out for a long time. I feel she wanted to make sure she had some really good memories with him, and she was able to do that. Making peace even with your beloved pet at times is the right thing to do. I think she felt as well as I that we needed to do that especially given the fact that he will be put down because we can not afford the 2000 plus surgery for his tumor. Even when all was said and done there still was no guarentee.

I think appreciating everything and everyone that we hold dear to us is a good way to have peace all the time.

On another note a bought a white tomatoe plant more to come when I find out how they grow, and taste.
