Happy New Year, a toast to now, and the future. 2008 wrap up

Posted by elizabethgomez on December 30, 2008

As another year comes to an end I have much to reflect on and much to look forward to.

Jenn and I will be together for sixyears this May and while it was not an easy start for either of us, right now I feel our relationship is where it needs to be, and we are happy.

We also are in our second year of having Lucy in our life. The love that little beagle mix has given me will never be repaid with any treat or belly rub. She is a wonderful member of our family and all of us love her very much. I am a better person because of this little dog.

We did a couple f things to the house, and it looks great. Over the last year our house really has become a home and we couldn’t be more happy and more proud as to what we have been able to do.

Jenn and I were also able to get away this past year. Once as a family and once just the two of us. Our trip to Maine was truly a dream come true. Both of us have wanted to go for a long time and this year we were able to go. We also rented a cabin in Canandagua. It was relaxing, and also felt nice to disconnect from our lives for a bit and just focus on “us” . It was fun and we hope to go back this year.

We are only eatting meat twice a week and the rest of the week has allowed me to explore my culinary skills. Lentil soups, black bean burgers, tofu stir fry, and veggie chili have become some of our favorites. We will continue to eat this way, and eat as much organic as possible. Over the coures of the year Jen and I went down in weight . We are not sure how much because the number on the scale is just that a number.

So in reflecting on this last year I have to say Jenn and I feel blessed to have the families we have and great friends in our lives too. When you reach a point in your life where you are truly happy, then you don’t ( I think) need to write resolutions for the new year. Whatever the year brings will be okay, good or bad.

With all the struggles and hardships that people are facing in the world right now Jenn and I are very fortunate to have our jobs, our beautiful home, our health, and our happiness that we share with family and friends.

May the year 2009 bring all of you the very best.

Peace and love to all who enter here. And Happy New year

Stay away from sharp objects

Posted by elizabethgomez on November 11, 2008

So today I had the day off. I know most of you find humor in that seeing that I never really work. I am happy being home and doing what I need to do. It is my life and my lifre is good.

Today however I had to get fasting bloodwork done. I do not, I repeat DO NOT like needles. I am so scared, I want to wet myself everytime a healthcare provider comes near me. I know I annoy them with my behavior but who the hell cares. I don’t like needles and thats that.

So I got my blood work done and I was surprised I made it home, I had three tubes taken out of me and felt a little funky. Maybe it was all in my head or maybe it was the fact that I had not had anything to eat since 6pm the night before. Whatever the reason I was happy to get home and have some coffee, and n nice warm breakfast. Oatmeal with cut up strawberries, a small yogurt, and I hard boiled egg. For those of you reading YES I am on my health kick again thank you very much !! And am luvin it. I feel great. I have upped the walking from the two mile Leslie Sansone DVD to the three mile. Today despite the bloodwork/ blood loss I did it. I have been doing it now for about a month and it is great.

I just feel great too. Who could have thought that the experts are right !!, exercising makes us look better AND feel better.

Tonight after dinner Jenn and I are going to check out a place near us a gym open 24/7. Now that sounds like fun.

I have the day off tomorrow. Go ahead and laugh, and will be seeing a friend I have not seen in about a year.I can’t wait and am also looking forward to having the day to put away some of my fall decorations clean a bit and start figuring out how I will be decorating for Christamas. Oh and I get to sleep in. Don’t get jealous !!!

Love to all who enter here…

Hobbies and such

Posted by elizabethgomez on January 16, 2008

  • So I have been keeping a journal for so far  since the start of the year I try and write a bit about my day and try to remember to write down at least two things I am grateful for every night, and even just reading the first couple of pages it is nice to have a reminder that we should try and remember all the good things in our lives no matter how small or big they may be.
  • I have started exercising again and I already feel the positive bennefits of doing so. Jenn and I take a weekly yoga class every week at a dance studio in Holley and getting there is harder than doing the moves in class. I find once I am there I love it. I love the way I walk taller, the way I am relaxed and how stresses that may have been on my mind prior to the class just go away. The only hard part is getting out of the house to get there. Jenn at first hated it, wanted nothing to do with it, and now she likes it too, and we enjoy the “couple time ” we have together. I have also started doing cardio at home 3 times a week and this has helped with my sometimes sleepless nights, I get a better nights sleep. I also find I feel better about myself when I exercise, and that alone is motivation to keep at it and see what other positives come my way. I have reached a point where it is not about looking good ( althought that is nice too) , its about health reasons and living a good life.
  • Foster care has taken a halt. We have yet to hear from our case worker what is to happen with a child we were interested in.  Apparently a family memeber is trying to take the child out of the system, and they if they prove to be fit, they get the 1st right to the child. More to come as we find out.
  • I will be taking a college clas this spring, and am looking forward to that. I will not be doing anything with that I will just be taking it for my own personal benefit. Jenn is looking into going next fall part time to complete her masters in social work, if that happens she will also be looking into a changing jobs. She is 30 credits away from her masters and I am here to support her should she decide to go back. At this point in her life it is not about the money it is about the time. Her parents would be willing to help out finacially. So having that on her mind has really had her thinking about going back. This year Jenn and I really want to work on ourselves and what makes us happy, and what would make our relationship better and stronger. I think this is a start in the right direction.
  • In work news we had all the higher ups at a staff meeting. Our house was recognized for doing well, and it was nice to hear what everyone had to say about the house and about each of my co-workers including myself.
  • In family news, everyone in my family and Jenn’s family is well. My parents will be going to California in a few weeks to visit my sister Norma. My sister Connie has been promoted to vice mayor as well as village trustee. That makes her happy. Betty is looking into buying a new house, and Jenny has started working part time after taking 3 years off to be with her kids. Jenn’s mom finally retired and is enjoying time with her father. Kerry her sister got married and purchased a new home. Kathy her other sister may move to California for her husbands possible job promotion, and Mia her addopted neice from China is doing very well. We also have been getting together at least once a month with her brother Mike and sister in law Joanie. We have dinner and a game night, which to us is a lot of fun because we love the company, I love to cook, and we enjoy ending the night with a good card game or board game.
  • So far this year is off to a great start, and I hope to continue all that Jenn and I have set forth on doing in the months ahead.
  • Peace and love to all who enter here.
